Concerning online exhibition by Pygoya and Franke, digital art pioneers and
their respective art theories
Dear Pygoya,
... It is also my meaning that the our show presentation in your internet
museum is a good contribution to let
people understand that the new age of art begins with the use of a new
instrument of art, the computer. But besides the new tool, there must be a
new way to thinking about art - in relation to human thinking and feeling. I am
delighted that you also harbor these ideas.
Dear Pygoya,
Thank you for the mail and especially also for your pains with the arrangement
of images. The result pleases me very much.
I think that your museum is an important contribution to
the history of computer art, and so also for art in general.
I thank you also for your friendly words about my work. In the beginning, it was
more of a hobby for me. But then in those early years I became
acquainted in Germany with a well known art historian, Dr. Franz Roh. He was
already an old man but he was thinking very progressively. He said to me,
"What you are doing is not play. These are the first steps in
new regions of art." His view strongly influenced my continued
efforts in computer art. I have to thank him for this stimulation
and inspiration.
Best wishes
Herbert
