BIOGRAPHY- Prof. Herbert W. Franke


Born 1927 in Vienna, Austria. 1945 – 1951 studies on the university of Vienna: physics, mathematics, philosophy. Change to Germany - five years activities in the industry, later free lanced. 1956 electronic graphics, begin of occupation with rational aesthetics and experimental photography, 1969 computer art. Lecturer for cybernetic aesthetics and computer art on the University and on the Academy for Fine Arts in Munich. More then 40 books, especially about art-science-connections, also science fiction novels.

 

BIOGRAPHY- Dr. Rodney P. Chang

Born 1945 in Honolulu, Hawaii.  Majored in zoology at the University of Hawaii, then earned the Doctor of Dental Surgery at Loyola University
in Chicago Illinois in 1972. Maintains a private dental practice in Honolulu.  Over the years earned 10 college degrees, including a M.A. in Studio Art at Northern Illinois University, the MS.Ed. from the University of Southern California, and a Ph.D. in Art Psychology from the Union Institute in Cincinatti,Ohio.  Dr. Chang was the first digital artist to exhibit in China, invited for a solo exhibition at the Shanghai Art Museum in 1988.  He also organized the lst International Digital Art Exhibition in Calcutta, India at the turn of the century (Dec. 1999). He has been exploring the interface between painting and digital art since 1985.  He founded and curates Truly Virtual Web Art Museum at Lastplace.com
since 1997.  He is also an author of a book of psychology, art, and has written 4 science fiction/fantasy novels.  He was the notorious dentist who in 1979 installed a discotheque in his dental clinic as the waiting room, complete with hired disco jockey and live radio broadcast on Friday nights in Honolulu.  For 5 years he owned and directed Soho Too Gallery & Loft, promoting avante garde art shows  in Honolulu (1985-90).  Also known as Pygoya, the Web artist, Dr. Chang is co-founder with Ingrid Kamerbeek of Webism art movement and the Webists international group.  Snapshop version of biography
